Short Profile of the Person:
Sougata is an Emirates Energy Award Winner in 2007 and Member of the Year 09-10 Who’s Who listing for his contributions to the business community. Sougata estimates that in his career span he has directly saved thousands of tonnes of CO2 from being emitted into the atmosphere, with the help of his energy- and water-conservation and LEED-certification projects. Sougata, who holds a bachelor’s degree in Energy Engineering and a master’s degree in Energy Systems Engineering – both from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) – has been a LEED AP since 2005 (the second to be so from the UAE). In addition, he is a certified Project Management Professional.
Sougata is currently the leading LEED AP in the GCC with 3 of the 6 LEED certified projects to his credit (Metito HQ, TECOM Management Office & DIAC Phase 3).

In his one role at TECOM, Sougata oversees the implementation of sustainable development practices throughout TECOM Investments and provides LEED consultancy for all new buildings and existing buildings at TECOM Investments. Sougata is also responsible for giving shape to TECOM’s Sustainable Development Policy, which is the backbone of the organization’s leadership programmes for a sustainable future.
In his other role at TECOM, Sougata oversees the project development of Enpark, a model sustainable community and a free zone for Cleantech companies.
