Short Profile of the Person:
Vahid Fotuhi is BP Solar’s Director for the Middle East and North Africa. Based in Dubai, Vahid is accountable for maintaining and expanding partnerships with government and private sector partners in the MENA region.

From 2004-07, Vahid was based in Algeria where he was in charge of Government and Public Affairs for BP’s oil and gas division. One of the projects involved a world-scale carbon capture initiative at BP’s gas production facility in the Saharan Desert.  The CO2 being removed was equivalent to taking 250,000 cars off the road every year.

Vahid holds a Masters degree in Energy Economics from Johns Hopkins University in Washington DC and a bachelor degree in Economics from McGill University, Canada.

Regarded as an expert in the field of solar power, Vahid is routinely solicited by the media, including Reuters, The National, Kuwait Times, Arab Gulf News, and The Financial Daily. He is also a frequent speaker at major conferences on solar power and renewable energy in the Middle East.
