Tion Kwa is Assistant Editor of The National. He was a Bernard Schwartz Fellow with the New York-based Asia Society in 2008. From 2005 to 2009, he was Senior Writer with Singapore's Straits Times, for which he wrote editorials on economics. Based in Hong Kong from 1997 until 2005, he was concurrently Chief Editorial Writer at the Far Eastern Economic Review and Editorial Writer for The Wall Street Journal. Both publications are owned by Dow Jones. Kwa was also previously Bureau Chief in Kuala Lumpur for Knight-Ridder Financial News, Editor of a law journal for the New York City Bar Association and Research Associate at the National Association of Scholars in Princeton, New Jersey. He also edited a journal on Asian law and practice in Hong Kong in 1989. He is a citizen of Malaysia.
